CHATHAMS CHILDREN.
DUNEDIN TRIP ARRANGED. The fourteen schoolchildren from the Chatham Islands are having a splendid holiday in Christchurch. To hear them speak of the many interesting trips and sights provided for tliern is bo get just a faint idea of the deep impressions made on them by their first visit to a city. It has now been definitely decided to give the visitors a trip to Dunedin. This part of the programme has been arranged by Sir Heaton Rhodes, Minister of Defence, and tlie Minister of Eoucation. As every day of the ooming week has been “ bonked up,” the children will probably go south early in the following week. The fares of the scholars are being paid by the Minister of Education and, the Native Minister. The party this morning visited the Tai Tapu Dairy Company’s factory, and this afternoon went to the New Brighton gala. This evening they will' have a nil) in one of the Kaikonra Motor Company’s cars on the Port Hills. The programme mapped out for next week is as follows : Monday—3 p.m.. visit Booth, Macdonald’s factory - 6.30 p.m., visit Sea Scouts’ ship at Redcliffs. 1 uesday—lo a.m. visit Gardena and museum ; 6.50 p.m., boating with Wednesday—9 30 a.m., boys visit Addington saleyards; girls go to tea at Beath’s; evening, visit residence of Mr and Mrs James Staples, Riooarton. Thursday—9 a.m. till 10, visit Tepid Baths; 10.30, visit Petersen’s; 11 a.m., visit New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Association ; evening, visit Y.M.C.A. conceit hall, where they will be enter tained by the Canterbury School Committees’ Association. Friday—lo a.m., visit Bunting’s brush ware factory ; noon, attend meeting. of Canterbury Education Board : 8 p.m., Fuller’s Opera House performSaturday—l.3o p.m., attend St Albans School, where they will! be entertained by the School Committee.
