THE PRICE OF WHEAT.
FARMERS MEET IN CAMERA. (.Pkr Prfss Association.) ASHBURTON, January 12. An important conference of farmers was held here this morning to discuss the question of fixing -wheat prices for the coming .season. Mr G. W Lend ley presided. and there were present representatives from the North Canterbury, Mid-Canterbury and South Canterbury Provincial Executives of the Farmers’ Union. On the motion of Mr J. Paterson (South Canterbury), seconded bv Mr W. T. lull (Mid-Canterbury) it was decided unanimously to hold the proceedings in committee. When the conference adjourned at one o’clock it was reported that no decision had been reached, but certain recommendations had been referred to a committee for a report, to be presented to a joint meeting of farmers and millers' representatives this afternoon.
