£2OOO TO CHRIST’S COLLEGE. WIDOW RECEIVES £4500 A YEAR. The estate of the late Mr A. E. G. Rhodes haß been, sworn for s*tanip duty purposes fit £263,000. His will provides for only one p\iblio bequest—namelj., £2OOO to Christ’s College. The trustees and executors named in the will Mr R. H. Rhodes, St Andrews, South Canterbury ; Messrs E. J. The following legacies are provided for : T.O the widow : £IOOO. free of legacy duty.- to he paid within a month, and all household stores and To each clerk at the time of the testator’s death in the. office of Rhodes. Ross and Godby, who has been employed there for not. less than seven years, six months’ salary. • To the Board of Governors of Christ’s College. £2OOO free of legacy duty on trust to be invested, the net income to be used for the college as the finance committee or the board thinks best. To the trustees, all the testator's household goods. furniture, plate, articles, fixtures, glass, china, earthenware. books, prints, pictures, linen and household effects at the testator’s principal residence, Te /Koraha. Merivale, on trust, to permit the widow to use them during her life as long as she continues the testator’s widow; after her decease or second marriage to be held in trust for the testator's son. The widow to have the use of Te Koraha during her life, or until she marries again, the trustees to allow her £6OO a year for painting, repairing and improving, and the trustees to pay the rates and insurance. If the widow gives up her life interest in Te Korahn. the trustees are instructed to pay her £4OO. In the event of her death or second marriage the property will go to the testator’s two children. In the will the trustees are instructed, in addition, to pay the widow £3OOO a year, but a codicil increases that sum to £4500. The trustees are authorised as to the residual estate to sell or convert property and to invest the surplus in public stocks, funds and securities; also to carry on the solicitors’ husineas of Rhodes.
