An amazing incident occurred at a conference of Irish County Councils. Business was interrupted by the entrance of four gunmen with reVolvers, ordered everyone to put. up their hands, including press representatives. The rebels then said that they had heard that one of their members had been executed that morning, and asked if a certain Bix members of the Rail were present, the names being read out. The answer was that none were present. The gunmen then made every person take down his right hand in turn and produce evidence of his identity. When the gunmen had satisfied themselves that the six members of the J>ail were not present, they withdrew, apologising for interrupting the business.
