A ROUND OF PLEASURES. The party of Chatham Island school children who have come to New Zealand for the first time nre having a splendid holiday. Under the charge of Mr R- Thompson they have already seen many of the chief industries, and much of the surrounding country, and their great capacity ior interest finds endless pleasure in sights of the city. ‘ Everyone is exceptionally kind to us,” said Air Thompson yesterday morning. “Jußt this morning a small party of us miesed the tram and a passing motorist stopped and gave us a ride into town. People want to do everything possible for us. At the Islington works yesterday,” he added laughingly, “ they loaded nie with a couple of lambs, tins of tongues and sweetbreads.” Mr Thompson displaye 1 an invitation that he had received to attend one of Miss Resina Buckman’s concerts. Yesterday morning the party visited Skelton, Frostick and Co.’s factory, and at- 1 p.m. were entertained at: lunch in the Dorothy tea rooms. At 2 o’clock they visited the Wool stop Tanneries, and last evening went to a picture theatre. It is understood that Sir Heaton Rhodes is endeavouring to make arrangements for the visitori to go to Dunedin for a day or so, and that before they return to the Chatham Islands endeavours will be made to give them a brief glimpse of Wellington.
