IRELAND MORE SETTLED.

Mr. T. Healy Welcomed as Governor. High Hopes for End of Trouble. By Telegraph Press Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received December 6, 8.50 a.m.) LONDON, December 5. Mr. Cosgrave and General Mulcahy met Mr. T. Healy at Holyhead on his return from London. They warmly congratulated him on his appointment as Governor-General of the Free State. Mr. Cosgrave, in an interview, said that the situation was well in hand. He was in high hopes that the end of the trouble was in sight. A union between North and South could not long be delayed. A dividing line was unnatural. Mr. Healy’s appointment was undoubtedly popular, and all classes hoped that it would mark a turning point in Ireland’s long, chequered career. The execution of Erskine Childers had been received with calmness and fortitude. As showing the rapid improvement in the economic conditions, there had been a large increase in exports when compared with last year.
