BURWOOD NOTES.

At the last meeting of the Burwood Burgesses Association it was decided to ask the Automobile Association to assist in getting that part of River Road lighted between Burwood and R ayeoo ll rse Road. Lhe Tramway Board have definitely decided not to proceed with the short cut at Buxton’s owing to the prices asked by owners of property which would he required for the purpose. At present the Cheviot School children are camped on the school grounds. They arrived from Cheviot by Tues day evening’s train. They intend visiting the Exhibition and will play cricket and other matches with tin? local boys and girls. The parents are providing meals for the visitors. The head master has made all the necessary arrangements. Some weeks ago the local school visited Cheviot and appreciated the courtesy extended to them by the Cheviot residents. Hie Progressive Association recently held a euchre and dance in the hall An enjoyable evening resulted. Presentations were made to Mrs Rowse, Mrs Smith and Mr F. Reaby for services rendered to the association. The roads in the district- are now being repaired with spoil from the tramway tracke. The shelter shed light has again disappeared. It has cost the ‘County Council a fair amount in globes, huton each occasion some person unknown has destroved it.-
