The Rev L. S. .Kempthorne, Bishopelect of Polynesia, who is still quite a .ycuug man, i< a. son of Archdeacon Kempthorne. of Nelson, and a grandson of the late Air Sampson Kempthome. an early Auckland settler, wlio arrived in 1842. Airs Sampson Kempthorne was a daughter of the Rev Josiah Pratt, second secretary o 1 the Church of England Men's Society of London. Air L. >S. Kempthorne was educated in England, and tor a time was chaplain to Bishop Kempthorne. < f Lichfield. He then took up missionary work in West Equatorial Affrica. and later moved to the Straits Settlements, where he now resides.
