THE REFORMERS AND KAIAPOI HARBOUR.

r O THE EDITOR Sir,—Mr David Jones’s election committee, in their frantic efforts to obtain the much-needed support of the Kaiapoi Borough electors for their candidate, are industriously endeavouring to impress on the people that the only hope of obtaining their harbour is centred in his return. Surely the Kaiapoi people have fnore sense than to believe this. Who has effectively blocked the harbour scheme for the time being, but the Minister of Finance—who. it is understood. will not sanction the loan for the work until the Counties Secession Bill is disposed of by Parliament —and the Reform landowners of the county. It was the big landowners, all Reformers, who originated and organised the opposition to the Kaiapoi harbour scheme. Let this sink into the minds of the Kaiapoi people, and they measure up the support which the Reform Party and their candidate deserve from them at the ballotbox to-morrow. —I am. etc., KAIAPOI ELECTOR.
