THE GENERAL ELECTIONS.

AVON. Air D. G. Sullivan. Labour candidate for Avon, addressed three large meetings last evening. The first was held at the corner of Fitzgerald Avenue and Livingston Street, and the second at the corner of Estuary Road and Bridge Street, South Brighton. The Rev Clyde Carr presided at both these meetings, at which Mr Sullivan received unanimous votes of thanks and confidence. Air Sullivan was also heartily cheered at the conclusion of his address. The third meeting was addressed by Air Sullivan at North New Brighton, Mr E. A. M. Leaver presiding. Air Leaver paid a trUnite to the straightforward way m which Air Sullivan had conducted his campaign. and also eulogised him for his great services to New Brighton during the past three years. The Rev Clyde Carr, minister in charge of the Congregational Church. Lin wood. also spoke in appreciation of Mr Sullivan's high ideals and integrity, and his work for the people of New Zealand. Mr Sullivan received a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence, and was very heartily cheered. RICCAR.TON. Air J. A. M’Culiough. Labour candidate for Riccarton. addressed a large meeting in the Town Hall, Clarence Street,‘ last evening. Mr R. Hampton. in introducing the speaker, said that Mr At’Cullough’s name was an honoured one in every working class home in this country. His experience and knowledge of industrial laws would he of inestimable value in Parliament. The candidate was greeted with rounds of applause, and throughout his address much enthusiasm was displayed by the large audience. On the motion of Air C. Fyfo, seconded by Air H. R. Eagleton. a hearty vote of thanks was carried with enthusiasm. CHRISTCH X :RCTT NORTH. Air J. K. Archer, Labour candidate, addressed a crowded meeting at St Afatthews Schoolroom last evening. Mr A. J. Day presided. A motion moved by Air C. Dun ford that a lieartv vote of thanks and confidence .should he accorded to Air Archer was carried with one dissentent. KAIAPOI. Mr R. D. Martin addressed the workers at Andrew Mill, Waikuku. in the lunch hour yesterday ; and also a large open air meeting in Rangiora during the afternoon. Later Mr Alartin addressod a large meeting in the Grand Theatre, Kaiapoi, Mr J. H. Blackwell in the chair. At the conclusion of the address Mr Alartin was accorded a hearty vote of thanks'. on the motion of Messrs T. Harrison and T. Drabble. Air J. H. Blackwell in moving a special vote of thanks to Mrs Alartin for the interest she had taken in the campaign referred to the fact that Mrs Alartin had created a worthy precedent in accompanying Air Alartin throughout the campaign.
