SECRET LETTERS PUBLISHED

M. Venizelos and Italian Government. Greek Aspirations Disclosed. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received December 5, 9.10 a.m.) PARIS, December 4. “ Le Matin,” continuing the publication of M. Venizelos’ documents, reveals letters from Signor Nitti and Count Sforza, addressed to the Greek Government, leaving no doubt of Italy’s refusal of support to M. Venizelos. “Le Matin ” says: “M. Venizelos signed a secret agreement with Signor Tittoni in Paris in July, 1919, under which Italy was pledged to support the Greek demands in Western and Eastern Thrace, the annexation of Northern Epirus, and also to cede to Greece the JEgean Islands. The agreement provided that in the event of Italy’s inability to obtain satisfaction regarding aspirations in Asia Minor which were not specified, the agreement might be annulled.” “ Le Matin ” expresses the opinion that the agreement thus became precarious and illusory. M. Venizelos was trifled with by the Italians. Count Sforza, writing to M. Venizelos in July, 1920, denounced the agreement, and declared that Italy was resuming full liberty of action.
