THE EXHIBITION.

SCHOOL CHILDREN’S VISIT. Hundreds of school children visited the exhibition this morning, taking n keen interest in all the exhibits and preparing notes so that they should answer questions by their teachers later on. Before the children broke up into groups for a tour round the stalls, they were addressed by Mr W. J. Jenkin. president of the Industrial Corporation of New Zealand and president of the Exhibition Executive. Mr Jenkin said it was an undoubted fact that the exhibition was the greatest of its kind ever held in New' Zealand, and he hoped all the boys and girls would pa* r full attention to all they saw. Secondary industries, he reminded them, were of the utmost importance, and in that connection a big responsibility rested on them all. Possibly some of the boys present that day, and even some of the girls, would become members of Parliament. He hoped that at all times they would regard it as their duty to buy colonial-made goods, insisting that the boots they bought and the garments they wore were man 11 in New Zealand, the country which produced some of thei finest raw materials in the world. Too many people to-day thought only of themselves. I'lie manufacturers were trying to eradicate that, and the school teachers were working to the same purpose. All of them bv using New Zealand-made goods could help their neighbours and make the country more prosperous. Once that was thoroughly realised, the Prime Minister of tha Dominion would never again be able to say that he was .short of money. Mr Jenkin said he hoped the hoys and girls would have a happy time in tho Exhibition and that they would ask plenty of questions. Three cheers were given by the children for Mr Jenkin and tho inspection began. This evening at the Exhibition musi-. will be supplied by Miss Macdonald’s orchestra, and her dancing pupils will provide an entertainment. To-morrow further parties of school children will visit the exhibition.
