A very interesting table has been issued by Lloyd’s showing that out of the 29.255 vernels of 100 tons and above classified throughout the world. 8522 are lesa than five years old; 4165 are of five years and under ten years; 3549 ar«_ of ten years and under fifteen years; 3759 are of fifteen and under twenty years; 5899 are o* twenty and under twenty-five years and over. Attention is drawn to the large proportion of comparatively new vessels owned in some countries, no doubt due to the lare© number of vessels built during and after the war. For instance, of th. sesgotoe vessels of the United Kingdom about 23 per cent are declared i o have been bnUt in the last five years. Similar percentages for other countries are: United Rtntes of America. 63 per cent; Japan 40 per cent, France and Holland, 33 1-3 per cent; Germany, 31i per oent; Belgium, 31 per cent; Denmark, 83 par cent. It is of interest to find tha4 of the largest vessels now owned : n the world—those of 15.000 tons and above and ten years old. and the other 25 bi ,jfcweeu ten and twenty-five years old.
