Remarkable accusations have arisen out ol the rex.< nt street hold-up of a iiirl clerk while she was carrying the takings of .t club, in which she was employe* 1. to the bank. Cecil Carey, a detective, and Septimus Salter, secretary of the club, arc charged with conspiring to defeat the administration of justice. The prosecution alleges that following the arre.-t ot a man who was accused of the hold-up, a. sum of £42 v as deposit©*! in the stolen hag by Suiter, at Oatcy's instance, thus aggravating th*j neriousness of the offence. The bag contained only £0 when it wae stolen. Salter and Carey, expecting a robbery, lay in wait, for the thief, whom they took to the Police Station, from whence Salter, at Carey's instance, returned to the club and obtained tho e> tra money.
