An outbreak of fire occurred at 9 a.in. yesterday at the residence of Mr G. Harcourt, Davev Street, Kaiapoi. It is supposed that the fire was caused through the current being left on an electric iron. The fire engine was taken out smartly, but was not required, the fire being suppressed by the efforts of a bucket brigade. Damage amounting to about £lO was done to the 'kitchen. The house is owned by Mrs E. Parnhani, Tauranga. The Literary Year Book Press, 07, Dale Street, Liverpool, announce the early publication 'of “ The Happy Wanderer,” being some of the writing! of the late Air Charles Godfrey Turner, cvdited by Mrs Ethel Richardson Rice, contributed to various journals in Britain and New Zealand. The material covered in the volume, which will be published early this mojnt-h, comprises a reptYsentative selection of his work.
