FLOODED STREETS.

DOWNPOUR IN CITY. Heavy rain set in shortly after ten o’clock this morning. following on threatening condition*. 1* or about an hour there was a very heavy downpour, which caused flooding in n number of street channels. In Cathedral Square the footpaths on the north side of the Cathedral were quickly covered with water and similar conditions prevailed in other parts of the city The rain continued during the remainder of the morning. but after eleven o’clock the downpour i\a- not so heavy as it was earlier. During the night there were light showers hut for several hours prior to ten o'clock the rain held off From 9 a.m. to-dav till noon the rainfall was 0.410.
