Mr F. K. Hunt. S.M.. ha been appointed a Royal Commissione to inquire into the allegations by M O. O. Maaenga rb, solicitor, making charges against the administrative am other principal officers of the Depart merit, that in tl*e conduct of inquirie into chargee of misconduct agains officers, improper methods have beer adopted for obtaining evidence, am tacts favourable to the accused hav. been wilfully sup-pressed, and undm harshness has been observed. The Corn mission which formally opened and ad journed l.ast month resumed this morn ing. Mf B. IS. Combs appeared for til Officers' Association, and Mr P. S. K Jlacassey for the Department. Mr Combs applied for an adjourn m©nt till after th© election, as he i fully or-rupivd by his candidature am i~ unable to give time. Mr Maras*©; opposed the applications as the charge been promulgated among Ofce &yh cuttve of the association *®nd migh have a serious effect upon discipline After further discussion proceeding were adjourned till December- 18.
