SERIES OF COMPETITIONS. PROSE, POETRY AND PICTURES. A series of competitions has been arranged foT this .year’s Christmas number of tbe Star.” The competitions will cater for the story writer, the poet (senior and junior), and the photographic artist. The subjects cf the co roue tit ions and tho prizes offered are as follows: 1. ORIGIN AT STORY, not to exceed 2000 words- First prise £5 ss, second prize C 3 3s. 2. ORIGINAL POEM, subject “ The Coming of the Pilgrims,” First prize £3. second prize £2. 3. CHILDREN’S POEM, any subject. open to children under 14. First prize £1 Is. second prize 15s. 4. PHOTOGRAPHIC STUDIES relating to Canterbury. Subjects may be chosen from the seaside (yachting, boating or bathing), the Aron, the Port Hills, the farming districts or the mountains. The prints must be suitable for reproduction and not less than postcard size. Prizes £2 10s, £2, £1 10s. £l. Others accepted for reproduction 7s 6d each. The awards in all competitions will be made by the Editor of the “ Star” whose decision will be final Entries will be received up to November 27.
