Remarkable scenes were witnessed at Johannesburg at the funerals of Hull, Lewis and Long. Thousands of workers in regalia followed the coffins. The “ Red Flag'’ was sung, and addresses were delivered at the graves iy Labour members of Parliament. abo participated. A message received yesterday stated that the three miners. Hull, Dewi* and Long, who were condemnd to death for murder during the Rand upheaval had l.een executed* at Pretoria. They went to the scaffold singing the I( Red Flag.” An excited meeting outside the Johannesburg Town Hall demanded tho reprieve of the three condemned men. A revolver was discharged, and immediately a section of the crowd savagely attacked a detective, who was rescued badly battered. Rain terminated the proceedings.
