POWER FROM COLERIDGE

SIXTH UNIT NEARING COMPLETION. Good progress is hem- made with the installation of the sixth unit at the Lake Coleridge power station, and it is anticipated that the unit will be m commission towards the end of The generator for the sixth unit has been erected, but the necessary electrical connections have yet to be made. The greater part of the work of erecting the turbine has been completed. The sixth unit will develop 3000 k.w.. thus completing the present authorised power equipment of the station, bringing the nominal output up *to 12,000 k.w. On Wednesday Mr A. Gavey, o Metrical engineer of the Public Works Department- visited the power station, .and inspected the work in progress there. He also inspected the Harper River diversion and found that, although two floods had occurred in the river recently, tho diversion works were in excellent condition. During the heavy flood experienced about a week ago a* certain amount of shingle was deposited near the intake gates, but it had now been removed and tho flow had increased accordingly.
