I debate were stormy. The Bill was j practically the same as that introduced by the last Government. The present Government, introduced it as a nonparty measure and attempted to end ! the debate in one sitting. The Labourites and the Country Party resent i ed this, and now claim that their ad j verse vote was not against the Bill but ! against the Government’s tactics. The Sydney Harbour Bridge Bill ware have been amended to provide that 1 tenders might be submitted lor an • arch bridge instead of a cantilever bridge. Tt was expected that the work ! would not be completed for eight years.
