ROWING.
OPENING OF SEASON. A meeting of delegates of the various Rowing Cfuebu in Christchurch was held at tin* Canterbury Rowing Club’s boathouse last night to discuss arrangements for the opening of the season. There were present —Messy* F. D. Kesteven, chairman (Union), D. Robertson and K. J. Hobbs (Canterbury Club),* G. 11. Hobbs (Union), Ci. L. Young and W. Scott (Avon). The opening day was fixed for Saturday, October 28, and the draw for position in the prooession resulted:—Union, Canterbury and Avon. The procession commences at 2-30. The following officers were elected:— Commodore. Mr N. L. M’Beth; marshal, 11- F. D. Kesteven; starter (races), Mr H. Berry; judge, Mr H. T. Evans. The racing events will be fours and double sculls, and the entries will*close on Monday, October 23. at 6 p.m.
