Sleeman and F. Connolly were charged in the Supreme Court with attempting to influence the vote of Mi F. Brennan. MP. The hearing was adjourned, bail of ,£SOO being allowed. A previous message stated that two journalists, John Sleeman and Edward Connolly were charged with attempting to bribe F. Brennan to vote against the Labour Party on the ren sure motion According to evidence tendered in the Lower Court. Mr F. T. Brennan M.P . arranged for two detectives tr meet him at an hotel. After conversing with Sleeman and Connolly Brennan called the detectives and told them he had been offered £3200 to vote against the Government. Brennan added that lie wanted to have nothing t< do with it hut asked the detectives » take Sleeman and Connolly to tne de•tective office and see if they had the money upon them. When searched •Sleeman was found to have in his possession £3OOO in bearer Treasury bonds ind Connolly had £2OO in bank notes.
