The report to be presented to the. annual meeting of the Canterbury Centre, N.X A.S.A.. to he held on October 11, refers, in congratulatory 'ferms. to the achievement, s of the Canterbury representative swimmers in winning both ehielde at the New Zealand .championship meeting as well as the water polo banner. The coming season is expected to he the most successful in the history of the sport ir Christchurch. Additional provincial chain pionships will he provided, mainly ir. the* intermediate section. There i P a probability of the world's champion swimmer. J. Wieemuller, of America., .visiting Now Zealand during the coming summer. Tn the event of AYiesmuller not making The trip, a tour by Australian swimmer? will probably be arranged. The next New Zealand championships will be held in Tirra.ru. and the centre is urged to make an early start with its preparation* to augment th© touring fund to ensure a satisfactory representation. Gratification i* expressed at the invitation issued by the Hawaiian Association of the A.A.U. of the United States for Misses Gwitha, Shand (Christchurch) and Pauline Hoeft (Auck land), to swim in Honolulu and the centre extends to both swimmers its best wishes for their success. FEND ALTON CLTTT*. The first annual meeting of the Fendalton Amateur Swimming Club was held last evening, at the Fendaltou School. Mr J. Maw son-Stew art, president of the club, was in the chair and there was a largo attendance. The annual report showed that the club was in a strong position financially ann numerically. Since tbe. club was formed in November, 29-21. with a membership of fort-y-e-igbt. its numbers have steadily increased until t-he roll now shows 120 members. During the past sen son tho club held two carnivals which were a, great .success. Through the efforts of an energetic committee vast, improvements had been carried out, at the school baths. New dressing sheds, shower, and spring board have been provided and the present, well cleaned. During the season six boys and six girls, members of the Fenda.lton School were given free membership in tho club with the intention of their being trained for the purpose oF instructing their fellow scholars. A number of club races, were held during th»season and the events were keenly contested. Tbe results show that the club possessed several promising swimmers. During the season the club was materially assisted hy dona.tions from Mrs Dow ling, Mr G. Witty, M.P.. Mr .T. MawsonStewart. Mr Watkins, Mr G. Humphreys, Mr J. 'Seymour, Mr G. Loyds and Mr G. Ij. Lewis. The club recorded its appreciation of tbe Waimari County Council'? grant towards improvements to the drainage, wells, and accommodation at the baths.
