MARIST OLD BOYS' DANCE.

The Marist Old Boys’ Football Club held their annual euchre party and dance at the Art Gallery on Wednesday evening, over 100 couples being present. The decorations in the lounge and dance room were carried out in the club’s colours. At an interval an ad journment was made to the lounge room, where the presentation of the Rugby championship shield to the first fifteen was made. Air T. P. O’Rourke presided, and welcomed Alessrs S. Wilson, A. AFP hail and C. Buchanan, representing the Canterbury Rugby Union, j Air Wilson offered his hearty eonj gratillations to the Alarist Brothers’ Old Boys’ Club in having won the shield 1 lor the fourth time in succession. Tbeir i performances, particularly in the latter | stages of the season, were exceptionally I bright, he thought. He complimented [ the fourth grade players on having i gained first place, and regretted that the trophy due to them was not to hand for presentation. The club, continued Air Wilson, had every reason to be proud of its playing members, and any club that could successfully gain senior honours for four years on end could do so only by consistent training and through keen interest in the game. He regretted that the Payne trophy had not been competed for. Mr AUPhail endorsed the remarks made by Air AVilson, and expressed his admiration of the excellent team work displayed by the team, and of the good clean football the Alarist team always j played. j Mr G.
