An extraordinary offer, made by a rich woman to buy another’s husband, was revealed to-day and admitted by all persons involved. Mrs Edith Sprockles "Wakefield, aged thirty-nine, divorced from a millionaire, and the mother of three children, the eldest being aged nineteen, offered Mrs Rodney Kendrick, who is twenty-four \ears of age and dying from tuberculosis, a hundred dollars a month for i the rest of her life if she would permit j Kendrick, a newspaper artist, aged j thirty-nine, to live with Mrs Wake- j field. Mrs Kendrick declares she is! considering the offer. Mrs Wakefield is planning to obtaiu a divorce from her present husband, who is her second. The Kendrick? have a year-old baby. All persons concerned had an amicable talk at which the advisableness of the arrangement was conceded. Mis Kendrick’s attorney announces that Mrs Wakefield will he compelled to pay his client 25.000 dollars or whatever the Court will give her in a suit : for the alienation of affections before : she will release her husband, and that i she will oppose all divorce proceedings until this is done.
