CHRISTCHURCH SEATS. CANDIDATES ANNOUNCED. Although on It about throe months will elapse before the general election is held, the Labour Party is the only poll tioal organisation that has definitely selected its candidates for the various city and suburban seats. Avon and Riccarton. and the Labour Party are understood to he considering the question of putting up an official candidate for Riccarton. The Hon G. W. Russell and Mrs H. E. Herbert have been mentioned as prospective oandi dates for Avon in the interests of the Liberal Party, but neither has yet come to a definite derision in the matter. A meeting of Reform supporters wili lie held in (Tiristchurch North to-night for the purpose of selecting a candidate for that constituency. (Pen Press Association WELLINGTON, August 23. Mr H. T. Parata has announced that he has decided not to contest the Southern Maori seat at the general election, but will support the candidature of Mrs Muriwai Mutu (Mrs Morrison), who stands as an Independent.
