He was supported by the other executives, who are endeavouring to persuade the Southern and Western Railways to light the strikers to a finish. lit the meantime further walk-outs are occurring. Four hundred trainmen struck on the {Southern Railway, claiming that the guards were a men ace to safety. Troops were called out at several points to subdue riotous outbreaks at meetings. The Hotel Sniithfield, Pennsylvania, where the . strike-breakers are quartered. was bombed, the miners’ bunkhouse nearby being damaged. Ten persons were injured. Fifteen arrests have been made. Philadelphia advices state that the conference of anthracite operators and strikers has reached a deadlock.
