AUSTRIA IN A SERIOUS POSITION. REFERRED TO LEAGUE OF NATIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Oopvriicht Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received August 23. 8.55 a.m.') PRAGUE, August 22. Dr Renes, Premier of Czecho-Slova-kia, has rejected Dr Seipels request for political and economic assistance, advising him to submit his case to the League of Nations. A recent message stated that in connection with the visit of the Chancellor and the Finance Minister to Prague and to Berlin, it was stated that the increasing gravity of the situation made it impossible t-o await an assembly of the League of Nations. Germany and Czecho-Slovakia had been appealed to because they were more materially interested in Austria’s salvation than was the Entente.
