FANCY DRESS CARNIVAL.
The staff of Madame Poppy's held a fancy dress carnival dance on Saturday evening at tbe Jellicoe Hall, when there was a crowded attendance, and some very effective costumes were worn. The decorations were unusually effective, being of pink and blue streamers, with lines of coloured balloons and paper golliwogs (the work of the girk) strung across the hall, the lights being shaded with waterfall shades. Bailey’s Banjo Band was in attendance, and provided excellent music. Madame Poppy wore a beautiful gown of sapphire ninon. handsomely beaded with black beada, ove.
an underdress of satin. The gran 1 march was a pretty sight, and the variety of costumes made a difficult task for the judges. Mrs A. M’Phail anl Airs R. Chamberlain, the formewearing a. becoming frock of shot gold and goblin blue ‘ilk, with blue head embroiderj T , and Airs Chamberlain a charming gown of lavender satin charraeufi© and steel grey radium lace side panels.
