The ferry steamer Mararoa experienced a strong southerly wind during her trip from Wellington last night. On arrival at ten o'clock this morning the vessel experienced difficulty in berthing owing to there being an .exceedingly low neap tide, about two feet lower than usual. The Mararoa, at the best of times, is difficult to handle at low tide, as she does not answer read ily to her helm. In addition. Captain frwiu had to contend with the strong south wind. which blew the vessel alongside the end of No. 3 wharf. The tug Lyttelton went to assist, but its services were not required.
