(Special to the “ Star.”) GREYMOUTH. August 21. An old mining identity, Captain Arthur Richards, of Coromandel, died at Auckland a few days ago. He was appointed inspector of mines for the West Coast about twenty-five years ago. Before going to Coromandel he lived in Hokitika. Mr H. S. Alpe, the well-known long distance walker, will undertake a walk to Greymouth from Christchurch, by way of Blenheim and Nelson in the interests of the Blind Soldiers’ Fund, in February next.
