The Appointments Committee reported that a letter bod been received from tho Board of Governors of the Technical College, acknowledging the board's letter regarding the ultimate use of the South Belt School building. The Department wrote pointing out that when the Phillipstown Infant School had been remodelled there would be ample accommodation for the children now attending the South Bek School. It was resolved that no action be taken until tho full effect of the opening of the Phillipstown School for all standards could be ascertained. The report was adopted. M TSCELLA NEOU S. The Agricultural, Manual and Technical Committee reported that it had accepte l two challenge shields donated by Mr H. Bruce for a lucerne competition. The potato-growing competition in North Canterbury resulted:—Mayfield, 95 points. 1. prize M2: Killinchy, 85 points. 2. prize £1 10s; Doyleston, 8-4 points, 3. prize £1; Tai Tapu, 82 points, 4, prize 10s. The Buildings Committee reported that the Department had declined to make a grant for installing a heating apparatus' at the Elmwood School. The committee had accepted the Department’s offer to pay half the cost of an overhead bridge at the railway near the Waimairi School. Bligh's Road, Papanui. The Appointments Committee reported that it had received a deputation in regard to the staif of the Christchurch East School. Regret was expressed that under the rearrangement of the staff the school would work under disability. If the board Jater on could make a change more in the interests of tho school as a whole :t should do so. The report was adopted.
