NORTH BEACH NOTES.

LOAN AVORKS. The Borough Council has decided to form footpaths and channels in Osborne Terrace. This street, being the direct through, access to the yea-front is much used by motor traffic. The channelling will complete the outlet from Tonka Street, now being formed. Several ele trie light poles which were out of alignment have been moved in Tonks Street The parking place for cars on the Es planade is almost laised to the require i elevation, and when clayed will be a convenience for visitors.

SCHOOL GROUND. Th© School Committee is arranging for a working bee to make a further clearance of lupins and growths in th© North Beach School Ground next Saturday. Th© tender of Air Alaynard, of Ashburton, has been accepted for the rebuilding of Ozone Cate. SOCIALS. The usual fortnightly euchre and dance was held on Saturday evening in th© Surf Club Pavilion. Prizes for th© Euchre were won by Aliss Smith and Mr H. Peppier, and th© consolation prizes by Master Faison and Airs H- Marriott. On AVednesday evening a special euchre and dance organised by the ladies’ section of the Surf Club was held in the Pavilion at the Racecourse, which was kindly lent by the New Brighton Trotting Club. In addition to dancing, eight tables were filled with card players. Prizes lor the euchre were won by Airs C. Kiddey and Air N. R. Johansen, and consolation prizes by Aliss Aslin and Air Martin. Mr A. E. Hutton was M.C., and Mr AY. Arundel pianist. Extras were provided bv Air T. Hall. Airs AV. Peppier and Air Norman Fawbert. PERSONAL. The younger child of Air and Airs Leaning, of Tonks Street, has been ill for the past week and on the advice of Dr Louisson, has been removed to a private hospital in the city. Air C. R - J. AVh\ te. Secretary to the North Beach Gala Committee, for the past two galas, is to take up his residence in New Brighton. Air F. J. Lawrence Scott, late schoolmaster at Ralcairn, took up his residence at North Beach last week. Air Isaac Stubberfield, who returned from England by th© Arawa, was a visitor to North Boadh recently. Air Ralph Stringer is at _ present confined to his bed with pleurisy. THE LOCAL BOOTMAKER.
