DERBY ROAD RACE. The Marshland-Mairehau Cycling Clui> held a Canterbury Derby championship this afternoon for youths under' eighteen years. The course, from the cornier of Briggs's and Hill’s Roads, via (fill's. Shir ley. Marshlands and M’Sev’eney’e Reads, had to be traversed three times, the full distance being fourteen miles. Leathani on the ground that the first four men were paced by a competitor who had retired from the race, and also by a motor-car. A meeting will be held at a later date to consider the protest. Mr P. C. Lucas acted as starter and time-keeper.
