RECKLESS MOTORING.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The rounding-up of motorists for breaches of the by-laws as disclosed at tho Magistrate’s Court yesterday, was a timely reminder, for some motorcyclists and car drivers take too many liberties for the safety of pedestrians and other vehicular traffic. Why even in the thick fog this morning cars were being driven at between thirty and fortv miles an hour, which was sheer recklessness, as the visibility was particularly bad. auctions such as these are hard to understand, and deserve to be met with severe penalties. The columns of the papers bear almost daily evidence of accidents due to unlighted vehicles and the disregard of traffic regulations, and I hope the corrective measures which are being taken will not prove merely a “ flash in the pan.” I am not one of those who think a motorist should never exceed twenty miles an hour, but the streets of the city should be barred to the driver who is convicted of “ speeding.^—l am, etc. pedestrian.
