The annual report of the Australian Long Wool Sheepbreeders’ Association states that, in spite of restricted movements of long wool sheep, the council is of opinion that the prosperity of former .years will soon return, and that popularity will he again fully established. HIGH PRICES FOR STUD SHEEP. (Received July 8, 11.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 8. The closing series of sheep sales produced the highest auction price for the week. Lord Brothers, of Queensland, paying 760 guineas for a special double stud ram, of Peppin-Wanganella blood, from Millead's stud at Jerilderie. A. Bolger (Wollambeen) paid 500 guineas for a ram from Mills Station. ANTI-DUMPING REGULATIONS. FEDERAL MINISTER EXPLAINS. (Received July 8, 11.25 a.m.) MELBOURNE, July 8. The Minister of Customs (Mr A. S. Rodgers) has issued an explanation of the anti-dumping regulations. He states that the precautions were taken to protect Australian manufacturers against competitors in countries with depreciated currencies and to preserve the preference which had been already granted in the import tariff to the United Kingdom. TRADE BETWEEN AUSTRALIAN PORTS. BRITISH VESSELS BARRED. (Received July 8, 11.25 a.m.) NEWCASTLE, July 8. The Chamber of Commerce has received a notification from the Prime Minister's Department intimating that permission would not be given to British vessels to trade between Australian ports as it would result in lowering the standard of the wages and accommodation of Australian seamen, or elso would drive Australian vessels out of the trade. TO-DAY’S POULTRY MARKET. The Canterbury Co-op. Poultry Producers. Ltd., report a good sale of poultry to-day. There was an excellent demand for prime birds, which realised high prices. Table chickens realised 5s 6d to 15s Dd, bens 3s to 9s lOd, ducks 5s 6d to 12s 9d. geese Ts to Bs, pullets 6s 6d to lis, turkeys 13a 6d to 445, all per pair. THE EGG MARKET. The egg market is well supplied and the market firm at last week's prices, and equal to those for the corresponding period last year. Canterbury Co-op. Poultry Producers. Ltd., first grades are Is lOd, seconds Is Bri, ducks Is lOd per dozen. BUTTER AND CHEESE. The following cable lias been received by Dalgety and Co. from their London office, dated July 6, 1922: Butter—Market weak. We quote New Zealand salted 2265, Danish 2245, Queensland 2245. finest Australian salted and unsalted 221 k. Cheese —Market slow. We quote New Zealand white 965, coloured 945. WOOL MARKET. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have been advised as follows by their London office iu a cable dated July 7:— At the B.A.W.R.A. wool sales at Liverpool, 21,000 bales were offered, and 98 per cent sold (9000 bales New Zealand crossbreds were previously withdrawn). Continental buyers were especially active owing to the suitable offering. As compared with last London sale's closing rates, best merino arid fine crossrbred wools were very firm. Other descriptions of raerinc, par to 5 per cent lower. For lambs’ wool the change, if any, was in sellers’ favour.

Foreign Exchanges are in a chaotic state. To-day the mark reached 2400. and closed «t 2300. The French franc sharply appreciated to 5580. and the Belgian to 5070. Tlio Italian lire was weak at 102, and closed at 100.
