Government has decided to “ cut’’ its navy Two years ago the Admiralty gave the Dominions the cruiser Aurora, the destroyers Parriot and Patrician, and two submarines; The Minister for Defence (Mr Graham) has announced that the Aurora and the submarines will be laid up. The only defence that will be maintained will be one destroyer .and two axtmed trawlers, both in the Atlantic and the Pacific. All Imperial officers will return to England, and Canada will create a naval volunteer force. Ibis policy, which is now before Parliament, is meeting with bitter opposition.
