AUSTRALIAN GLASS MANUFACTURERS CO. LTD. GLASS FACTORY FOR AUCKLAND The Australian Glass Manufacturers Co., Ltd., whose successful operations in the Commonwealth are well-known in New Zealand, have made rapid progress in the erection of their work* at Penrose Junction, and travellers on the main line have evinced some curv I osity at the sight of the buildings and the various building materials stacked on the ground and being used in the construction of the works, whioh will include all the most modern equipment for the manufacture of glassware. The company will complete the erection and equipment of the works and commence the manufacture of bottles and jars, etc., during August next. It is their intention then to arrange for the conversion of the enterprise into a local company, giving an opportunity to the bottling trade and the investing public to take up shares This is not the first enterprise of its kind in Auckland, there having been a glass bottle works there some eighteen years ago, but which ended in failure. The Australian Glass Manufacturers Co., Ltd., has been in operation for over forty years, during which time it has developed from small beginnings in Melbourne into a concern of considerable magnitude, through its ability to successfully carry on the industry,, whilst quite a number of other concerns hare either failed or become absorbed by the larger concern, whose present capital is £2,000,000.
