It is anticipated that each of the three political parties will lx* represented bv n candidate in tho contest for the North 1 Mined in seat. The name of Mr J. J. Clark is mentioned as being a probable candidate in th « Reform interest. It is understood that overtures have been made on behalf of the Liberal-Labour party to two ,1three electors in the district to stand ns its nominee, and the name of Mr 'W. Hogg, also an ex-Mayor of the city, has received some prominence in this <*<>r, nection. The selection by the Labour Party of its candidate is said to lie between Mr .T. AY. Munro and Mr .T. Gilchrist, secretary of the Labour Representation Committee. Mr J. T Paul has been asked but lias declined to accept the nomination of the party.
