SHOOTING SEASON.
FINANCIAL RETURNS GOOD, Tho amount received po far from tho sale of the licenses to shoot native and imported game in the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society's district is considered to be quite up to expectations. The final tally is not yet available as tho results from tho majority of country agents have not yet been sent to the Secretary, Mr i’. W. Hervey. It would appea . however, from present indications that the number of licenses applied for wiU be well up to the number issued in The shooting conditions since. the season opened have not been good. As one enthusiast said this morning, there have been “ streams " going out to tho lakes, hut a heavy southerly is wanted. The weather over the past few days has been very unsettled, hut there has been too little wind to bring the lakes up.
