Cabinet has decided that the regulations for gazetting the new wage are not sufficient, and accordingly has decided to approach tbe Arbitration Court for an award of £3 18s from July 1. REDUCTION OF PRICES. It is understood that a move will b*' made to secure a reduction in the cost of commodities and public utilities. particularly where the cost ha* been previously increased on account >f increased wages. PRICKS FALLING STEADILY. The indications point to a steady ?u° P o m prio<is ' Figures prepared by tho Board of Trade Statistician show that a typical group of men’s clothing and boots which c. st £l7 9* in January, 1921. is now £l3 14s, while women's -clothing: which cost £27 Is in 1921 is now £lB 10s. Food and groceries which cost £2 1* 7d in 1921 have dropped to £1 9s Sd. Rents have slightly increased.
