WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED.
STRUCK BY MOTOR-CAR. Mrs Patrick ’Welsh, a widow, about 60 Tears of age. who resides at Tai Tapu, was seriously injured as a result of having been knocked down by n motor car at the Lincoln Road train terminus at -4.37 p.m. yesterday. Mr? Welsh had alighted from the tram and was proceeding from the tram to the Tai Tapu bus when she was struck bv one of Read’s motor cars, which v jus cording to Christchurch from Akaroa. It is stated that Mrs Welsh step - ped out in front of the motor car. and the driver swerved to tho off-side of the road to avoid her. but struck her with tho front near side wheel. The driver states that he was travelling at 15 miles an hour and pulled up the car within ten yards from where tho accident occurred. Mrs V elsh was taken to the Lewisham Private Hospital in tho ambulance. Her condition is reported io be critical.
