The Marshland-Mairchau Chib’s fortv mile South Island championship which is to be decided on Saturday week, will bo run ground the usual (purse, starting from the Mnirehau Hall ,a 2 p.m. 'Competitors are reminded that entries close on Saturday next, and must be made out on the N.Z.A and C Union’s forms and be accompanied by the entry l'cc. The Papaniii Cycling Club intends holding two track races on Saturday r.fternoon\ and these .should help to sharpen up competitors who intend taking part in the big event on the following Saturday. Taylor and Kaiser, who furnished a. sensation in tlie last half hour by lapping the field after a desperate two miles, fin ished scron cl, and Brocco and l>o Rut ter third. fhe rest were either one or two laps behind. Fourth prize went to Egg and Eaton. thanks to Egg s remarkable speed in some of the early sprints. Goulet and Madden were fifth, after a close point tussle, with Egg and his partner in tile final hour. Rutt and Krupkat, the German team, were sixth and received a tremendous ovation.
