WANGANUI GALLOPS. j (Special to the 'Star.”). WANGANUI. May 17. There was thick mist and light rain early this morning, but the sky cleared for the final gallops. The track was a trifle heavy. The first to work were Blackmail and Sunny Corner, who did serviceable gallops. Printemps and Tekuri ran seven furlongs together in 1.3-5. Santiago skipped over five furlongs moving nicely, in 1.4. Kyoto galloped attractively in doing six furlongs with Manchester. tho time being 1.20. All Cerise looked very well. She wont a round, sprinting up the straight. She nppearod to be a bit lame afterwards. Coalition and Scion wore associated in a seven furlong spin, taking 1.36, but they were wide out on the track. Left skipped over five furlongs nicely in 1.4. Correspondent. Wlianoko and W a nab a finished in that order at the end of a mile run in 1.47. the first named was two lengths in front. Ethiopian shaped better than Matatua in the schooling lesson over the hurdles. Matatua struck the last obstacle hard and stumbled badly. Rangi Thompson making a splendid recovery. Demos and Y ankee Dan went six furlongs together in 1.20. The best gallop of the morning was dono by Hyttus and Tame Fox. who ran seven furlongs 1.32. Mcrt- Avis and Kate cut out fire furlongs in 1.5, both looking in great nick. Sturdea and Dumper both fenced well in a round over the big country. Oak Rose started off with this pair, hut toppled over at the first obstacle. Sho was re-mounted and covered a round, jumping fairly well. Explorer was given three-quarters pace work. He jumped late yesterday, clearing tho hurdles beautifully. Omahu was given a round at a solid pace this morning. General Raven, who did steady work, looks more the worse for his fall yesterday.
