At the meeting n f t he New Zealand Educational Institute the. report of a special committee on school curricula Avas presented. Mr W- H. Newton (Auckland) explained that the principal point made Avas the need for better co-ordination in the system to give the pupil practically continuous schooling from the primary elements as far ns the pupil could go. The speaker warned the teachers against creating watertight compartments of authorities dealing Avith each branch. If another compartment were created the last state of the schools would be worse than the first. .Mr C. T. Aschmnn (Christchurch) suggested (hat the time was not- opportune to introduce the junior high school.
