SPARE THE SCHOOLS.
APPEAL OF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE. (Pen Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 17. Spare the schools in any scheme of national economy was the burden of an appeal which teachers have made to school committees all over the Dominion. and which they repeated at the annual conference of the New Zealand Educational Institute to-day, in the form of a motion. The President ol the Institute. Mr J E Purchase of Christchurch. said the motion was in rm way a. reflection on the Government, hut rather an appeal to the public to see that the schools were left alone, in the movement for retrenchment. The motion was carried.
