DIPLOMATS CLUB.

A more than usually successful dance was given by the Diplomats Club last night at the* Winter Garden, under the auspices of Messrs AV. and F. AN auchop. These gentlemen have an artistic sense of the value of variety, and three charming and amusing novelties were introduoed into the programme. The first, which provided much merriment, consisted of coloured balloons being fastened to the ladies ankles, which were to be preserved intact as they danced. In the second item streamers were thrown from one dancing couple to another. A charming exhibition dance was also given by Mr W. Wauchop and Miss Ruby W ilding, and was received with a generous measure of applause bv the onlookersAnother enjoyable break in the programme was the performance of some ukelele music by Messrs AV. and b • Wauchop, Miss Doris Sutton, and Mrs W. Raton, black net and ninon. bodice of black Waded net ; Airs Vergette, handsome dress of nil souple satin, gathered skirt, with sleeve of henna lace; Mrs Peoples, embossed lace over green satin : Airs Boulton, black taffetas bouffant at sides; Airs AY heeler, lovely frock of jade green satin miroir, with silver beaded ceinture, the skirt caught in at the hem ; Madame Helen Sands, flame taffetas, gold embroidered bodico < and draped and gathered skirt ; Aliss AI. Wauchop, cream satin with cream net overdress ; Airs Ix>uisson, graceful frock of white and henna-striped Shetland wool; Airs O’Callahan (Haweraj grey georgette over satin and lace: Mrs Basrand, beautiful frock of cream satin with bunched white net draperies festooned round the skirt; Airs Hiber-J dine, yellow georgette. frilled at either side with front and hack panel of cinnamon brown georgette, embroidered and fringed in yellow ; Aliss Ivy Munro, becoming dress of yellow and soft green satin and georgette and silver lace ; Airs Douglas, gold and cerise brocade; Aliss Alary O’Sullivan. ( white satin and lace; Aliss Talbot, rose taffetas with flounsed skirt and sash; Airs Norman Barlow, dress of gold laoc, longer than satin skirt ; Aliss Olive King, cerise taffetas; Aliss Poppie Clemens, pretty and smart dress of black net in tucked draperies over ninon underdress, trimmings of jet; Aliss Flora Al’Donald, oriental silk over jade satin, beaded girdle to match: Aliss Wallace, handsome dress of black net flounces, bound in satin, jetted bodice: and Messrs Burst'll.
