MINISTERIAL. The Hon Sir Heaton .Rhodes will leave for the South Island to-morrow night. The Minister is to unveil a soldiers’ memorial at Dunsundei on Tuesday and another at Rakaia. On Wednesday he will open a new post office at Duvauchelle and will probably lay the foundation stone of a war memorial hall at Greenpark- He expects to return to Wellington on Thursday morning. The Hon D. H. Guthrie leaves Wellington to-morrow morning to take part in turning on the new water supply at Paekakariki. He will return to Wellington on Monday, but will leave the same night to unveil a soldiers’ memorial at Ohingaiti on Tuesday (Anzac Day), and open the new post office at Rata on Wednesday. Tlie Minister will also visit five soldier settlements in the Rata district. He will return to Wellington on Thursday morning. Mr H. B. Sorensen, who attended yesterday afternoon's meeting of the M’Lean Institute, for the first tune since his recent illness, was congratulated on his recovery and welcomed back to the board. The appointment of the following members of revaluation committees tor a period of one year from January, 1922, is gazetted:—Northern portion of Canterbury district—Robert William Lock head, St Albans; southern portion of Canterbury district—James Scott, Timaru. The Rev W. Bullock, who arrived from England some months ago to take up the position of general secretary of the Church of England Men's Society, has been appointed vicar of Masterton, in the Diocese of Wellington. Tlie former vicar, the Rev J. Walker, M.A., leaves shortly for England. Mr Janies Millar, who died at Taibape on Monday at the age of eightysix years, was an old resident of Palmerston North. Born in Scotland in 1836, he sailed for Melbourne in 1858, and five years later came to New Zealand. He resided in the south tor many years, and thirty years arjo went to Palmerston North. Captain H. Dillner, late master of the Blackball Coal Company’s steamer Ngahere, who has recently retired from the sea, was the recipient at Wellington on Tuesday of a gold watch and albert from the officers, engineers and crew of that vessel. Air S. Murray, chief engineer, made the presentation. He spoke feelingly of the high esteem in which Captain Dillner was held by tho ship’s company, and wished him many years of happiness.
