THE TIPTON EXPLOSION.

HEALINC THE INJURED. MINISTER’S CI FT OF SKIN. 23y Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright Renter's Telegrams. (Received April 5, 8.55a.m.) JjOXDON, April 4. The Rev Mr Mortimer, the new vicar of Port Upton, in whoso parish the "Dudley explosion occurred, gave a square foot of his shin for grafting on bodies for those survivors who are still in hospital- It is possible that, owing to the extent of the sufferings and burns, other people may bo asked to make a. similar Baorifiee. About March 7 last, an explosion at Port Tipton (Staffordshire) killed live girls and injured thirty who were removing the contents of ISO tons of cartridges. Several of the injured girls later died in hospital. On March 18 Knowles, the. husband of tho factory owner, and Chadwick, the manager, were charged with manslaughter. The ease for the prosecution is based on the ground that tho Home Office was not aware that Knowles was going to break up cartridges, for which operation he had no permit and that he entirely neglected tho provisions of the Explosives Act.
